IN TROUBLE THE MISSION OF STATEHOOD
The majority in the House begins proceedings to repeal the election of lobbyists and eliminate the Equality Commission. The majorities of the Senate and the House of Representatives seem to line up to repeal the special election on May 16 in order to choose the lobbyists who would represent Puerto Rico in the petition for statehood in Washington, and another law that empowers Governor Pedro Pierluisi to hold a new status consultation by executive decree.

SEN. JOE MANCHIN IS 'OPEN' TO STATEHOOD FOR D.C. AND PUERTO RICO
Sen. Joe Manchin, West Virginia Democrat, is open to adding two new states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. PUERTO RICANS VOTED FOR STATEHOOD IN NOVEMBER. HONOR THEIR DECISION.
In Puerto Rico, one of the results of the Nov. 3 elections was that an indisputable majority of voters backed equality within the United States: statehood. It won far more votes than any candidate, including the governor.
Majorities voted for statehood in 2012 and 2017, but some questioned the results because the plebiscites included all of Puerto Rico’s options and some proponents of other ideas did not vote, disputing the definition of Puerto Rico’s current status

KANSAS’ EISENHOWER AND DOLE HAD IT RIGHT: GOP SHOULD WANT PUERTO RICO TO BE A STATE
The contributions of Puerto Ricans to the nation and their pride as U.S. citizens make them worthy and deserving of the equal treatment they seek. It is time for residents of Puerto Rico to have equal representation in Congress and to be able to vote for their commander in chief every four years. Providing these disenfranchised U.S. citizens with the same rights and responsibilities of the millions of Americans who live on the mainland is long overdue.

PUERTO RICAN PRIDE SWELLS UNDER THE CAPITOL DOME FOR BORINQUENEERS
“Throughout their service, they suffered persistent discrimination. For too long, their contribution to our history has been overlooked, so today, today we are setting the record straight by giving them the highest award within our possession, the Congressional Gold Medal,” said House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis.
